Strong roots. Length that finally stays.

Castor & Camellia Root Renewal Hair Oil 100ml

Root Renewal isn’t a growth oil — it’s a strength oil. Castor thickens and fortifies, camellia sinks in and softens, and together they stop the breakage that quietly undoes every inch you grow. This page covers exactly how to apply it, how often, and what to expect week by week.

NATURAL OIL BLEND

Cold-pressed castor and camellia at the core. No silicones, no mineral oil, no fillers.

DERMATOLOGIST TESTED

Assessed under dermatological supervision and safety-assessed to UK Cosmetics Regulation standards.

CRUELTY FREE

Never tested on animals. Vegan-friendly formula, start to finish.

MADE IN THE UK

Blended and bottled in Britain in small batches, so every bottle arrives fresh.

HOW TO USE

Richer than a standard hair oil, and deliberately so. Here’s how to get it working without the weight.

STEP 1 — WARM

Dispense 10–12 drops into your palm and rub your hands together for a few seconds. Castor oil is thick by nature — warming it first thins it out so it spreads evenly instead of sitting in one spot.

STEP 2 — PART & PLACE

Section dry hair into four. Work along each parting and press the oil into the roots with your fingertips, concentrating on the areas that feel weakest — the hairline, the crown and anywhere you’ve noticed thinning or snapping.

STEP 3 — MASSAGE

Massage the scalp in slow, firm circles for 3–5 minutes using the pads of your fingers or a scalp massager. This is what carries the oil down into the root rather than leaving it on the surface.

STEP 4 — DRAW THROUGH

Take whatever is left on your hands and draw it down the mid-lengths and ends. This is where breakage costs you length, so don’t skip it — ends should feel coated, not soaked. Leave in for at least an hour, or overnight under your Hair Halo.

STEP 5 — DOUBLE CLEANSE

Castor is a rich oil and needs a proper wash-out. Massage shampoo straight into the dry, oiled scalp before adding any water, rinse, then repeat with a second, shorter wash. Two light washes lift it cleanly; one heavy wash rarely does.

Your Weekly Hair Ritual

HOW OFTEN?

Once or twice a week is enough. This is a treatment oil, not a daily leave-in — castor is dense, and using it more often builds up faster than it benefits you. Fine or oily hair: once weekly, always pre-wash. Thick, coarse, curly or coily hair: twice weekly, and take the overnight option.

HOW LONG SHOULD I USE IT?

You’ll feel this one before you see it.

  • Weeks 1–2 — hair feels softer, denser between the fingers, and combs through with less resistance.
  • Weeks 3–6 — noticeably less breakage. Fewer short broken hairs on your clothes, less snapping when you detangle.
  • Weeks 6–10 — ends hold up better between trims, and the hairline and parting start to look fuller as fragile regrowth survives instead of snapping off.
  • Weeks 10+ — length retention. The inches you’ve been growing all along finally stay on your head.

Consistency beats intensity. One good treatment a week for three months will always outperform three treatments in one week and nothing after.

Lightweight castor and camellia hair oil designed to strengthen roots and support longer hair, before and after results

Is this the right oil for me?

WHO IS IT FOR?

Root Renewal is the one to reach for if:

  • Your hair grows but never seems to get longer
  • You’re seeing short, broken hairs rather than shedding from the root
  • Your hairline, temples or parting have thinned and regrowth keeps snapping off
  • Ends are splitting, straw-like or rough between trims
  • Hair has been bleached, relaxed, heat-styled or worn in tension styles
  • You want density and thickness rather than shine alone

Suits every texture, from fine and straight through to coily — the difference is how much you use and how often. Patch test on the inner elbow 24 hours before first use if your scalp is sensitive or reactive.

What To Expect

KEY BENEFITS

  • Renewal at the root: Castor oil delivers ricinoleic acid straight to the follicle and conditions the scalp where every strand begins. Stronger roots mean hair that holds on rather than letting go.
  • Breakage, stopped:The reason most people plateau at the same length isn’t slow growth — it’s snapping. Coating the shaft reduces the friction and mechanical stress that snaps hair mid-length.
  • Weightless absorption: Camellia oil is one of the fastest-absorbing botanical oils there is. It carries the richness of castor into the hair without the heaviness castor alone would leave behind.
  • Softness and slip: Detangling gets easier from the first use. Less tugging at the comb means less breakage before you’ve even started.

WAYS TO USE YOUR OIL

Three routines, one bottle. Use the one that matches what your hair needs this week.

The core routine.

Warm, part, and press into the roots one to two hours before washing. Massage for five minutes and double cleanse out. This is the
routine that builds density at the hairline and crown, and it’s the one to commit to for the full twelve weeks.

The intensive.

Same application, left in overnight under your Hair Halo. The longer contact time suits coarse, curly, coily, bleached or relaxed hair, and the silk bonnet keeps the treatment on your head instead of your pillowcase. Once weekly, washed out in the morning.

The quick one.

Warm 2–3 drops and press into the bottom two inches only, on dry hair, between washes. Targets split, rough or fraying ends and buys you time between trims. No need to rinse — just keep it well away from the roots.

KEY INGREDIENTS

CASTOR OIL

The strengthener. Thick, ricinoleic-acid-rich and traditionally used to condition the scalp and fortify the hair shaft against snapping. This is the ingredient doing the density work.

CAMELLIA OIL

The carrier. Known in Japan as tsubaki and used for centuries for shine and softness — exceptionally high in oleic acid and vitamin E, and light enough to absorb almost on contact.

BOTANICAL OIL BLEND

Supporting cold-pressed oils chosen to balance the richness of castor, so the formula conditions properly without ever turning greasy.

VITAMINS & ANTIOXIDANTS

Naturally occurring vitamin E and antioxidants throughout the blend, helping protect hair from the daily oxidative and environmental stress that weakens it over time.

PAIR WITH

Root Renewal works hardest alongside these three.

The sister oil, and our Marie Claire award winner. The Syrup works on the scalp environment and the conditions for growth; Root Renewal works on strength and length retention. Alternate them across the week and you cover both sides of the problem.

The overnight step, solved. Our silk bonnet holds the oil against your scalp all night instead of losing half of it to your pillowcase, and because silk doesn’t grip the hair the way cotton does, you wake up without the friction, frizz and breakage.

Castor is thick, and fingertips tire. The massager makes the five minutes effortless and works the oil properly down into the root.

Frequently asked questions

Different jobs. The Intense Growth Syrup is our scalp and growth oil — lighter, rosemary-led, built around creating the conditions for new growth. Root Renewal is the strength oil — richer, castor-led, built to stop breakage and hold onto the length you already have. If hair is growing but never getting longer, this is the one you need.

Yes, and most people get the best result doing exactly that. Use the Intense Growth Syrup on the scalp mid-week, and Root Renewal as your weekend pre-wash treatment through the roots and lengths. Don’t layer them in the same application — alternate instead.

Completely. Castor oil is naturally dense, and that viscosity is what makes it effective. Warm it between your palms for a few seconds before applying and it thins out and spreads easily.

Not if you use it as a pre-wash treatment and stick to 10–12 drops. Camellia oil is there specifically to keep the blend absorbing rather than sitting on the surface. If you have fine hair, keep it to the roots and the last two inches and wash it out the same day.

Shampoo before you wet your hair. Massage shampoo directly into the dry, oiled scalp, then add water and rinse. Follow with a second short wash. Adding water first makes any oil far harder to lift, and castor especially so.

Around two to three months at one to two treatments a week.

Yes — and processed hair is where it earns its keep, because chemical services are one of the main causes of mid-shaft breakage. Leave 48 hours after a fresh colour or chemical service before your first treatment.

It makes a real difference. Without it a good share of the oil transfers to your pillow instead of working on your scalp, and cotton pillowcases create the friction that causes overnight frizz and breakage. The Hair Halo is silk and designed for this exact step.

Almost certainly — you’re looking for the wrong signal. Length is the last thing to change. Check your brush and your clothes instead: fewer short broken hairs means the oil is doing its job, and the visible length follows from there.

Yes. A drop or two, warmed and massaged in. Keep it away from the lash line and the eyes.

Stop use and rinse the area. As with any new product, patch test on the inner elbow 24 hours before first use if you have a sensitive or reactive scalp.
